i love this one. its pretty long but i think the longer the better with these kinds of movies, right? the main girl amy, is very likeable & cute. and (mr. darcy) plays in it & honestly i wasnt really sold on him, until this movie! i love p& p because of keira knightly, but now i love it because of matthew mcfayden, too! i texted my mom the next day because i knew she had seen it, & we both agreed that his character in this is so loveable that you actually miss him & want to watch again. so little dorrit is a must.
this one i saw as a preview on little dorrit, i think. i really liked this one. you'll love the 2 characters below & the girl, molly is such a good person its ridiculous. (i like those people)
i also saw this newer bbc version of s&s as a preview on little dorrit. it was good. i couldnt help but think "no they're saying it wrong" since i'm so used to the other one. i liked the actors that played edward ferrars alot & eleanor. but a few of the other actors were pretty terrible. maybe its just cause i'm so biased to the hugh grant version.
this one is based on real people- the author john keats & the girl he loves. so these ones are always a bit more depressing. but the actress in this is amazing. she looks like nicole kidman & katie holmes mixed together but she's her own too. she made the movie. there is a part where you are like, wow..how was she acting in that part? it was so real. also in the movie she makes her own clothes & i love them all. i couldnt find a pic of my fav outfit. but i would want to dress in her dresses today!

okay, so it's not as classy as your titles, but my fav BBC show is Little Britain. It's a sketch comedy show done by just two guys and is hilarious. Trust me.
I'm not a huge movie buff so I'm clueless, but I must agree... The dresses were freaking amazing back then! And call me crazy, but I love how the busts busted out of the tops back then.
Oh how I love these kinds of movies. I just rented Emma from the library for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. I'm going to have to find these and rent them. Thanks for the suggestions! Sorry I don't have any in return. But if you hear of any more, let me know!
This (http://www.amazon.com/Jane-Eyre-Masterpiece-Theatre-2006/dp/B000LPQ6DE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1277575146&sr=1-1) is my sister's and My favorite version of Jane Eyre. It is so wonderful. You should definitely find it!
And this (http://www.amazon.com/Emma-E-1997-Kate-Beckinsale/dp/0767020308/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1277575269&sr=8-1) is my fave version of Emma. We only have it on VHS, so I need to upgrade. It's one of Kate Beckinsale's early movies. Awesome!!!
thanks crissy! i've had the kate beckinsale emma in my netflix queue for like a year...i'll have to finally watch it!
Bleak House (with Gillian Anderson), The Olde Curiosity Shop, Albert and Victoria, Young Victoria, Emma with Kate Beckinsale is fantastic, Sense and Sensibility with Kate Winslet, Great Expectations, the Duchess of Duke Street (it's part of a series), Madame Bovary, Wives and Daughters, Daniel Deronda, The Age of Innocence, Brideshead, Brideshead Revisited.. ok so some are not quite the same period but all great nonetheless. Hope some of these will work for what you are looking for!
Oh yes and how could I forget Jane Eyre! Sigh... I like the 2006 version and the version that is in the A&E Romance Collection (Ciaran Hands & Samantha Morton). Actually this is my favorite DVD collection to date: http://www.amazon.com/Romance-Collection-Special-including-Prejudice/dp/B0012XIGVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1277592767&sr=8-1.
I am a literary geek! I adore when there are fantastic film adaptations.
Also Tess of the d'Ubervilles is a fantastic film. Mansfield Park has yet to be adapted into a film version I like.
I also forgot Cranford and Return to Cranford. Ok I will stop now...lol
