One year ago.....

One year ago today I was feeling pretty nervous and anxious but mostly just wanted it all over with! On last nights episode of the Biggest Loser it showed the hospital that I delivered the twins at. It brought back alot of memories. I had a constant stuffed up nose that last month or so and I remember after they were born I could instantly breathe through my nose! Weird. And I loved that I was very awake and aware of everything this time around. I could actually see him pulling out the babies because they had stainless steel around the light above. I would have liked to see it in a mirror. i dont think it would've made me sick. I was so happy in the recovery room, I just kept staring at them as I constantly itched my face. (side effect of the anestesia, I think)

It was a rough road trying to breast feed them in the hospital, and at home. Embry would have nothing to do with it, he would drink one of those 4 oz formula bottles in a couple minutes. Jasper latched on like a pro but he took forever. And in the end I didnt want to have to nurse one and formula feed the other. I wanted to do the same with both because I'm not a magician. I pumped for them until they were 4 months old and I consider that a small accomplishment because I could get enough milk for all their feedings except one and because I lost ALOT of sleep staying up after they went to bed so I could pump or woke up before they did to pump. And that sleep was gold. I remember the first few nights after we came home from the hospital I had my pillows propped up so high so that I could just hop out of bed every 15-30 minutes (no joke!) Somehow I managed to survive on 1-2 hours of combined sleep. Also in the morning I'd see the pile of diapers we used through the night and it was like 10-12. It was the most sleep deprived time of my life..but also the happiest! Here is a little recap of their first year in pictures!

They used to sleep in this little travel bed in the bed with us! It wasnt very comfortable or restful for me but I was very paranoid after the whole Jasper scare. They finally went to a crib in their own room about 2.5 months.

For no good reason

I just thought there were too many cute ones from this batch of pics on my camera that I had to share. I really love the age that the twins are at! And Bastien cracks me up with his picture faces!

It was cute how excited he was to take scriptures to primary. (even though the incentive was candy) The pic above is the face I will first get when I tell Bastien to smile. He thinks he's pretty funny. Then I will bribe him and get the one below!

He finally outgrew his converse shoes from like 8 months ago! And I got to pick these DC's, Steven doesnt like this style of skate shoe but I think they are adorable on him!

Bastien Sitiveni Langford

1- Where were you when you first found out you were pregnant? At home, when we were living at the Woodcreek apartments.

2-Who was with you? Steven 3- How did you find out that you were pregnant? I took a test, then I went and bought the digital ones to make sure!

4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? I was so excited! I had a feeling since I was so tired lately.

5- Your Husbands reaction? Even though we had just had a discussion to wait a little bit longer before we started trying.....he was excited of course! 6- Who was the first person you told? I told my mom the next morning, and then I we told Steven's family that night, it was Stevens moms bday. 7-Did you plan to get pregnant? No. It's funny because a few days before I took a test and it said NO, so I was telling Steven how I wanted to start actually trying since it had been a year. And he was saying that we were still young and had plenty of time. But God's idea was better! :) Of course now that he has kids he wouldnt have it any other way!

8-Was everybody happy for you? Yes, I dont see why they wouldnt be.

9- Did you go out and celebrate? The night we told Steven's family we went out to eat, but it was for Delma's birthday. 10- Did you want to find out the sex? Yes, and my doctor was a jerk about it at first. He said there had to be a medical reason to have an ultrasound..so he put it off until I basically begged him when I was 6.5 months along. 11- What was the sex? Bastien's a BOY! 12-Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Yes. 13- If yes, who? My sisters

14- Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew you weren't going to put on your baby? Yes, I'm a baby clothes brat. sorry. 15- How much weight did you gain? 60 effing pounds! 16- Did you loose all of the weight that you gained? Nope... I lost 40..and didnt ever lose the rest before I got preg with the twins. 17- Did you get a lot of stretch marks? I thought I did, boy was I wrong. They were all below my belly button and they were small and white. 18- What did you crave the most? In the beginning I craved everything sour. I stole lemons from someones yard cause I was desperate. And I ate Sour candy until I had sores on my tongue. Now I hate sour candy!

19- Did you crave anything crazy? I was constantly eating ice before and after this pregnancy. Thats not really weird though.

20- Who or what got on your nerves the most? Haha! Umm...my sister Mary and I were both pregnant at the same time and she was 6 weeks ahead of me. I was a jealous brat, sorry Mary!

21- Were you married at the time? yes 22- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? No 23- Where were you when you went into labor? I was running errands with my mom. We were at Home Depot on June 14th around noon-ish and I felt like an uncontrollable trickle of pee come out. I had just seen my sister go to the hospital and then get sent home a couple times so I wanted to be sure. We finished up our fathers day shopping:the mall and then at Target we were eating lunch and I got up from the chair and it was wet. Gross, but I didnt feel it. So I went to the hospital and my water was in fact broken.

24- Did your water break? Yes

26- Did you go early or late? One day late, but he was born almost 2 days late. 27- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth? Steven and my mom for labor, but just Steven for the csection.

28- Was it video taped? No 29- Did you have any drugs for the pain? I had an epidural at midnight 30-Did you go Natural or have a c-section? Well I was shooting for natural, after the midnight epidural I was at a 10 by 6am. I pushed for 2 hours and nothing. So the dr. finally shows up around 8am tells me he's face up with a slow heart rate from all the pushing and says I need a c-section.(Hmm.. Maybe he wouldnt have been so tired if you were here sometime during my labor to help him flip over?)

31- What was your first reaction after giving birth? Overwhelmed and tired. I was too out of it to cry. I remember being in the recovery room and holding him for a few minutes and feeling really happy....then some intense pain started....basically I was hemmoraging, but with horrible pain, my heart rate dropped really low and I heard the nurses acting worried...I remember crying really hard and feeling stupid because there were other people next to me with curtains drawn. Also my brother Vuna was there, which was really sweet..and he tried to give me a blessing but the nurses kept coming in and out. Then they gave me lotsa morphine...and I dont really remember what happened the rest of the day. I remember regaining consiousness when all my family came and my brothers were going to give me a blessing. But Sione started crying and couldnt. I remember feeling loved :) I hear I looked pretty scary. 32- How big was the baby(s)? 8 lbs even. Some nurse told me he was 10 pounds after they weighed him. What the heck?

33- Did your Husband cry? I dont think so, if he did I didnt see. He told me he was worried the baby might be ugly..(thanks for the confidence!) but was very relieved when he saw that the baby was cute.

34- What did you name the baby(s)? Bastien Sitiveni Langford 35-Did the name have any significance to you? I just loved the name Bastien. First I was going to do the spelling Bastian..but I thought Bastien looked cuter for a boy. The middle name is Steven in Tongan. It's pronounced like Ste-ven-ee

36-Does the baby's name fit? Yes! I cant imagine him with any other name. 37- Did the baby(s) have any complications? Nope, he was great!

38- How old is your baby today? 4 in June! CrAzY! 39- When is the next one(s) coming? They came 2.5 yrs later.

40- If you could would you do it all over again? of course.

3- How did you find out that you were pregnant? took a test, we were trying so this was the 3rd month I'd taken a test on the day my period was supposed to start.

4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? I was So excited of course, especially that it only took 3 months of trying.

5- Your Husbands reaction? Excitement of course, we both wanted it. 6- Who was the first person you told? I called my parents, then brothers and sisters.

7-Did you plan to get pregnant? yes. 8-Was everybody happy for you? yes.

9- Did you go out and celebrate? I dont remember, i dont think so. 10- Did you want to find out the sex? Yes! Of course at the time I was hoping for at least one girl, but I'm so glad I had 2 boys!

11- What was the sex? 2 boys!

12-Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Yes, I was talked into it. I felt dumb for having one when I was just having boys again, but everyone kept saying "Its different with twins"

13- If yes, who? My sisters and mom. Dendi made some really cute invitations for it!

14- Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew you weren't going to put on your baby? I remember liking alot of what I got! 15- How much weight did you gain? sheesh. 60 pounds again!!!!! I really thought I wouldnt gain that much either because I was sick for almost 5 months. I was at 30 lbs in December. Then in a month in a half I gained 30 more! I'm pretty sure that was all water weight because I was SWOLLEN with elephantitus in my legs by the end. 16- Did you loose all of the weight that you gained? I lost 45 in 2 weeks! See, I knew most of it was water weight. 17- Did you get a lot of stretch marks? Holy freaking crap yes! THey are high above my belly button, too. And purple-ish instead of white. 18- What did you crave the most?pretty much just fattening food

19- Did you crave anything crazy? No but I thought for sure the first 5 months I would never go near chocolate again...I wish that was the case. 20- Who or what got on your nerves the most? Nothing really out of the ordinary. I'm sure I had moments of beastliness. 21- Were you married at the time? yes 22- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? When I was 7 wks along, I went with Steven to the Robinson Helicopter safety class that was a week long. I was pretty sick so my parents came along to help me with Bastien. I was so glad they did because I started bleeding and ended up going to the ER, afraid I was miscarrying the baby. They did an ultrasound and said that I just had a U.Tract infection. Also the doctor said "We did find something else....you're having twins!" 23- Where were you when you went into labor? I never went into labor. I lasted 38 weeks and 3 days until my scheduled csection.

24- Did your water break? nope 26- Did you go early or late? 1 week and 4 days early..but it felt like 5 months late! 27- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth? Only Steven 28- Was it video taped? Yes, I really wanted to see what one of my csections looked like. It wasnt gross cause they had everything covered. You basically just see the babies come out of a blurry mess.

29-Did you have pain meds? That was a must. 30-Did you go Natural or have a c-section? a planned csection..so much better

than an emergency csection. 31- What was your first reaction after giving birth? happy 32- How big was the baby(s)? E-6 lb 12 oz & J-6 lb 10 oz 33- Did your Husband cry? no he's not really a cryer. 34- What did you name the baby(s)? Embry Vuna and Jasper Tevita. 35-Did the name have any significance to you? I read the first 3 Twilight books during my pregnancy and first fell in love with the name Embry. Jasper was going to be named River for a while, then I kinda stopped liking it. Steven brought up the name Jasper and it grew on me more and more. Even though I felt like a crazy person for naming them both from Twilight! The middle names are the names of my dad and his identical twin. Vuna and David (Tevita) Tevita means David. And also Steven's dad's name is David. 36-Does the baby's name fit? We think they do, I cant imagine Jasper as a River 37- Did the baby(s) have any complications? not until 2 weeks, we had a scare with Jasper, he had SVT (his heart was beating too fast) he was on meds until he was months. 38- How old is your baby today? They will be ONE on the 28th of this month! 39- When is the next one(s) coming? Oooo...ummm..dont ask me that until I lose all this accumulated baby weight! 40- If you could would you do it all over again? I would love Twin girls next! :)

Embry started taking steps at 10 months but he decided he didnt really want to do it til later. I'm suprised cause the kid crawled at 6 months! And Bastien didnt until 9 months. But, I was happy Delma (Steven's mom) got to see Bastien take a few steps before she passed away.

Episode 2 Highlights!

-I'm glad they showed the people at home, of course! Bastien was so excited to see cute little Maizi and Soakai on tv! He kept saying "I wanna see Maizi on tv" all the next day.

-That was pretty insane of you, Dane.... lifting 900 lbs! I thought I was watching an episode of Smallville for a second.

-It was awesome of Tara to give Filipe her phone call home!

-MY favorite part: Bob unleashing the fury on Joelle. Please! It was 30 freaking seconds, and she was being ridiculous with her "You want perfection" and "Please forgive me" 's I told Steven everytime I dont want to excercise I'll have to think of Bob saying "Shut the F up and DO IT!" I like that Bob quote on the wall " Believe in yourself, trust the process, change forever"

-This wasnt really a highlight, but when Jerry let out that big sigh when he saw the 1 pound loss it was heartbreaking. But seeing that he lost 84 lbs was great! I think it was good that Daniel stayed considering his partner ordered 2 hot dogs and fries once he got home, even in front of the cameras???? They really need the ranch...I really hope his partner does okay at home!

Oh, and all those fried chicken comments from Filipe....If you want to see just how much fried chicken Filipe ate last year and will NeVeR eat again after seeing this...watch here! Did you watch it? Crazy huh? That is like me with cookies! :( It's crazy how 1 week at the ranch changes you. I think it's about time for all my "Words words words" to stop as Bob would put it and "Shut the F up and DO it!"

Bastien's a sunbeam!

It was Bastien's first week of Primary last Sunday. It doesnt seem that long ago when we were Sunbeam teachers when Bastien was a little 6 month old baby in Alma ward! At first when we went into the primary room he said"I dont like this...they dont have toys?" But after I said "yeah but they might have treats", he was good! He told us next week if he brings his "kiptas" (scriptures) he gets candy.

Bastien went with daddy to the skatepark on Monday. He had so much fun and got some cute videos of him on Steven's skateboard. I would upload them but it takes my computer 5 years to do it. Anyways, he brought one of his Thomas trains (a battery operated one) and I guess some kid in the park was playing with it and ran it through the sand a bunch and it wouldnt work anymore. I said to Bastien when he got home "Are you sad its broken?" and he's all "No, daddy will fix it." Steven has fixed 2 broken trains of his in the past so I guess there's nothing daddy cant do! :)

A GiAnT Jasper

Jasper will take a few wobbly steps, then do this really fast hand-leg monkey crawl across the floor. It's really funny to watch! I havent gotten it on video yet but in the meantime...you can watch Steven imitating it.

I finally saw a movie in the theater that wasnt Twilight! I'd been wanting to see this one and I thought it was awesome! Of course I knew it wasnt going to have a happy ending. Tom Cruise is an amazing actor and played this Staufenburg (sp?) guy really well! They showed a preview to the new "Wolverine" movie and Steven almost peed his pants watching it. He was pretty happy to see one of his favorite comic book characters, Gambit, in it too.

New Years Day (and some more Christmas)

We had a great New Years! Last night we hung out at our place with Michael and Tasha and watched a movie. It was fun..I feel like we dont have friends anymore since having the twins! Then today we had a pot roast lunch at my parents for New Years. It was so yummy, I'm glad the holidays are over because I'm tired of having the excuse to eat too much food!
